Beth Hoffmann answers your hospice questions
Q: When I make the choice to start hospice service, does my insurance company direct which hospice I use?
A: No. Patients have the right to choose their hospice provider. Physicians or other caregivers may recommend a hospice, but patient choice must be honored. When looking for a hospice provider, it's important to know all your options.

Hoffmann Hospice cares for terminally ill patients and their families throughout Kern County, including Tehachapi and the Kern River Valley. In May of 2002, the Hoffmanns opened their Palmdale office to serve Antelope Valley residents.
Hoffmann uses aggressive treatment for pain and symptom management while keeping the patient as alert as possible. Hospice care neither prolongs nor hastens death, but provides specialized support during the transition from this life to the next.
The Hoffmann pledge since the founding of the agency is to provide compassionate end-of-life care to all hospice-eligible patients, regardless of their ability to pay. In June of 2009, Hoffmann served a milestone 12,000th patient. The Hoffmanns consider it a privilege to care for those at the end of their lives and believe hospice should be available to anyone struggling with a terminal illness. To that end, plans are in the works to open a Hoffmann Hospice home in Bakersfield.
Hoffmann Hospice is Medicare certified and licensed through the state of California and is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
Hoffmann earned its accreditation through CHAP, the Community Health Accreditation Program. CHAP is the highest accreditation in the home health and hospice care industry and is a testament to Hoffmann's exceptional standard of care.
